Well, I just heard that cable tv subscriptions have fallen for the last 2 years. It is about time. Why do people pay for that vast, numb, wasteland? I have never had cable or dish or satelite or any kind of tv subscription. I do travel a lot, and from what I have experienced in motel and hotel rooms, there is not much to rave about on cable. Air TV is just fine for letting your brain float. And if I do want to see a show, say Dexter, I can rent it. And, oh yeah, you have to get a lot of stuff you would not want to support with basic cable---I don't want one cent of my money going to Fox News. Yuk. Ewwww. Anyway, I know it will not happen tomorrow, but I think in the next few years we will see a whole new world of video access, and it will be stuff that you can purchase without a lot of crap attached. Down with Cable!
Oh, and by the way, most of the stuff on Air TV is crap, too. I mean, really, what is the point of reality tv? Why do people like to watch other idiots being humiliated? Sure, I loved seeing Gerald Ford fall down the stairs, but really now, what is the fascination with Dancing with the Stars? Humiliation overload.
TOTALLY! Hear! Hear! On all counts! Giving up cable (even though I only ever had basic cable because over the air didn't work well) was the best move ever! I'm almost looking forward to the day when Netflix is the corporate giant instead of Comcast.
