Old friends
It is an odd fact that some people are such a part of your life that even if you don't see them for years, it is just like they never left when you do get together. Such is the case with Michi. She came to visit from her home in Olympia Washington, and we decided to get our mutual great friend Jennifer and travel down to the house in Teasdale. We had beautiful weather, as it is usually 10 to 20 degrees cooler in Teasdale than in SLC. It is monsoon season, so the mornings are clear, and the clouds build up over Boulder mountain in the afternoon. This is the best time to go to Capital Reef National Park due to the sudden showers and most amazing waterfalls that come off the slick rock. We were lucky and saw several, plus the hidden dinosaur bone in the canyon wall and the half grown fawns running in the orchards. Michi had not been to S. Utah for years, and she was newly enthralled with its beauty and antiquity.
The next day we went to the Women's Red Rock Music Festival in Torrey. Wow, what a gathering of characters. Locally run and attended by a cross section of locals and music lovers from all over the West, it is a celebration of all things women, especially Lesbians, and it can be a little overwhelming for the uninitiated. When we returned home, the Pleides Meteor shower was just getting started, and the skies cooperated by clearing up beautifully. We sat on the patio with our heads on the back of our chairs as the streaking meteors entertained us. We laughed and told stories, we ate good food and drank good wine, and it was a time to savor.

For funners! That sounds like a wonderful vacation- even before the fact that it was with such great friends! One day, I want to see your Teasdale house again...
