school starts tomorrow

I love my job, I love working with teenagers and having an excuse to read all day. Tomorrow will be a busy day, the first day of school. I hope there is not too much drama among the new students and a desire to do well among the others. Kids can be so mean, but then again, so can adults. I hope the kids will see the library as a sanctuary, a place to feel welcome and ask all the questions that they want without fear of feeling stupid. We all need to ask more questions and try to get answers that are complete and understandable. There is so much information that is questionable on the TV and the internet, and rarely does it get the scrutiny that it deserves. Kids need to be taught to think, how to think, not what to think.
